Pouches and more Pouches

Hello how are you all on this lovely sunny day on the 30th of April on a Thursday?

I am good, crocheting mobile phone pouches, until they are coming out of my ears, hahaha :) I am using the colored yarn that I bought last week, remember the ones that are still in their bag and waiting for instruction...

Well here they are :)
I also decided to make another beanie, using a 4.00mm hook and one of the colored yarns I bought, the brown pink one, 8ply, acrylic 100%. I have never made a beanie with 4.00mm hook. I wanted to try, to make the stitches smaller and tighter, so I get a more closed beanie. I used the same pattern as I have for all the hats/beanie I make with the 6.50mm hook, except I continue the increase until the beanie is bigger enough to fit around the top of the head. Here it is :)

Whilst I was crocheting this I found that I was making a perfect circle with this pattern, so I have this fantastic thought of crocheting a rug or round placemats, will have to give it a shot, I was not able to make a proper circle until now. I even wrote all in my pattern book, so I do not forget, cannot wait to try out, using my left over yarns, have many colors too.

I was thinking with all these pouches to make some for my Etsy shop and I have started today, so keep an eye out for new pouches in my shop. Great variety of colors too.

I have made more resin shapes, I love the hearts, made some shapes out of tinted copper and used some tube and seed beads to decorate too. I also made another coaster, but turned the mold upside down, curious to what will come out, this was last night. I got the smaller shapes out of the mold, they look good, but the coaster I cannot take out, I put wax on the mold to make it easier to take out, because some of the coaster crack when taken out. But this one is not budging. So I put it outside in the sun to help the curing process, see how that goes today.

Sorry about the dark pics... anyways I will leave you to your day :)

HAVE A FANTASTIC AND BEAUTIFUL DAY AND WEEKEND AHEAD :)

Hello.....New BackGround

Hello, how are you all? Did you have a good weekend? Cold, windy and gray here in Ozzie Land on this Monday 27th of April 2009.

I was feeling a little bored so I decided to change the background on this blog, you can go here and check out their free backgrounds

What do you think, let me know if text is too bright to read!

Before this, yesterday I completed the pouch that I showed you on the previous post, I like the colors.

Today I am starting another pouch with one of the other colors I recently bought, it is the brown, white, pink and green mix. I am trying a new base, using chainless foundation for single crochet stitch, Teresa has examples, click here, this will not give me the holes on the bottom of the pouch, I had to redo three times as the size of the pouch was not right for my Nokia. But now I have the right size and should complete today.

This chainless foundation can be used on all projects, instead of crocheting your standard chain to start of with, which leaves loose stitches, you can do this chainless foundation, which Teresa has examples of single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet stitches. Check out her videos here. You can also visit all her videos here. This is Teresa's home page.

I have completed the table runner, just need to finish off with the tails, no glue at the moment, because I missed out on Lincraft :( But I have started on the placemat.

The hat is in limbo at the moment...will try to continue on today.

The other yarn I bought recently are still in their bag, waiting to be instructed. Just love walking by and looking at the color combo's, no ideas yet :)

Well I think I will leave you to your day and I will post some pics tomorrow.

Have a fantastic day and the week ahead. :)

oooh no, more yarn!

Hello readers pretty crappy weather here in Ozzie Land, windy, cold and dark, like 14 deg Celsius on Sunday 26th of April 2009.

How are you, hope you are enjoying your weekend?

I am ok, I have gone a bit of a franzie over yarn, again, I have not bought any for a long while. Hubby and I went to shopping center in Air Port West, Westfield, on Saturday afternoon. They have all the shops under one roof, bilo, coles, aldi, target, kmart, sam's warehouse and several smaller shops and a food court and cinema.

We had some lunch and then on to Sam's Warehouse (used to be, The Warehouse and also Crazy Clints Warehouse). To my suprise they bought back yarn, because winter is approaching. I went wild. First I bought couple of 100g colored acrylic yarn and few other bits and pieces, including small plastic cups for mixing my resin in.

We then went on to do our weekly grocery shopping, in Aldi, BiLo and Coles. I told hubby that I had the urge and feeling that I should go back to the Warehouse and get more yarn, I just had to. So he went to the car to unload the shopping and I went back.

Boy, did I get some yarn, 37 dollars worth, they were 2.49 dollar each, for 100g 1 ball of yarn. I had to get 2 of each color. Earlier in buying yarn, I used to get one of each color and that was a mistake, I decided to make a project and their is just not enough, so this time I made sure I got 2 of each. Here they are.

Now, when we got home, after putting away the shopping and having a cuppa of coffee and cake and some rest, I just had to start a mobile pouch with the favorite color, I just had to :). I used a 4.00mm hook and single crochet stitch working in the round. Here is the pouch so far.

Ok, I am satisfied and happy at this point.
Oh and by the way I did not end up going to Lincraft, I had it all planned out, but there were no parking space, the whole local shopping center was full, this was Saturday afternoon, hubby could not be bothered waiting around, so we went straight to AirPort West.

Now for the Hat, from previous post.
Here is the pic.

Here is the one that is completed and this plum will look like. Warm, thick and cosy.
Hi Sara, this is the hat, I was talking about, I cannot locate the video for this from Teresa, but most likely it is one of the two patterns you have. She used half double crochet stitch and worked inbetween the stitches, to create a tighter stitch. I used 6.5mm hook and 100% acrylic thick yarn. If you want this pattern, I have it written down, which I wrote out from Teresa's video.

The pick below, is of the stitch marker I created to use with this hat in progress. I used a simple head pin, placed the beads on, made a loop and placed a jump ring to place around the stitch.

A while back I created this ring and bracelet, I like them so much, I want to share with you.

I also worked on some more resin, I placeed copper and tinted copper wire into the pieces, so that I can create loops so that I can hook them onto chains or keyrings. They look ok, but I have to work on the placing and how much to place inside. Here is a pic of all of them, I know a bit messsy, I have no room to place this. They have to cure for a week. You can see some pieces with wires sticking out. I love the hearts. I just had an idea, I could try using spieces, in powder form, to use as color into the resin. Will have to give it a shot, might even give the resin a nice smell !!

Just a quick note, I will try to finish the table runner today, I have not had the chance to, it is only few rows to go and also stick down the tails and cut them off. I just cannot decide weather to put a border around the table runner. I have crocheted some matching coaster. I should and think of making matching placemats too.

Any way, I think I have covered what I wanted to share, I will leave you with this pic, of the rainy day on Friday. It was like a miny flood, patches of puddles everywhere.

Have a great and happy weekend. Enjoy your time with family.

Hi New Hat on the Horizon

Hello, how are you on this murky and cold day here in Aussie Land on the 25th of April, Saturday?

Well I am OK, yesterday, Friday, I said we would be going up to Ararat, Grampians Soaring Club, Gliding. The weather was horrible, raining, cloudy, windy and we found out that the club is not open during the week, only by appointment. So we decided to go up next Saturday, which weather will be much better, will be able to sign up for membership and go up Gliding too. Fantastic cannot wait, will be great day.

Yesterday we just went for a drive up country instead, beats sitting in the house, especially when hubby is at home, was a good day, even though it was raining and chilly, hubby loves that sort of weather, it is refreshing and cool. I had a good day too.

On Thursday I started another hat. I made the same one a while back, it is warm and chunky yarn. I am making it from Veronica's Yarn 10 or 12 ply 100% acrylic yarn, using a 6.50mm hook and the color is like purple, but more of a plum. The other hat was same yarn and hook but the color is like creamy gray natural. I asked hubby yesterday to try on the size and he said it fits, so I will make one for him, he likes the blues, said it was thick and very warm. I think I will go to Lincraft today and buy couple of Veronica's 10 or 12 ply acrylic yarn in blue. I hope they still have them, it has been a while since I was there.

I have photos but not downloaded them onto PC yet, I will have pics for ya tomorrow.

That is all for now, have a happy and great day and weekend :)

blessed we all are

Hello All, how are you today, just browsing around Etsy today and I came across this fab lady who has a Blog and Etsy shop, she has wonderful stitch markers

Something to Think About (here)

If you have food in the refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over head and a place to sleep…you are richer than 75% of the world.

If you have money in the bank, in your wallet and spare change in a dish someplace…you are among the top 8% of the worlds wealthy.

If you woke this morning with more health than illness…you are more blessed than the million who will not survive this week.

If you have never experienced the danger of battle, the loneliness of imprisonment, the agony of torture, or the pangs of starvation…you are ahead of 500 million people in the world.

If you can attend a church meeting without fear of harassment, arrest. torture or death…you are more blessed than three billion people in the wolrd.

If you hold up your head with a smile on your face and are truly thankful, you are blessed because the majority can, but most do not.

If you can hold someone’s hand, hug them or even touch them on the shoulder, you are blessed because you can offer healing touch.

If you can read this message, you just received a double blessing in that someone was thinking of you, and furthermore, you are more blessed than over two billion people in the world that cannot read at all.

Have a fantastic and happy day and look forward to the weekend ahead, count your blessings and pass this along to remind everyone else how blessed we all are.

Hooked on Resin

G'day another beautiful, sunny and warm day here in Ozzie Land on Wednesday 22nd of April.

I tell ya, I am hooked on this resin and creating lots of shapes and embedding objects to preserve them forever. I just need to get some silicon to make my own shapes and molds of objects that I have around the house, especially paper weights, I have few of them all different shapes. With few of these I will be able to embed few more objects than just one or two. I will also have to get more colors too.

Anyways, yesterday, I made another few jewelry shapes. I also made a Sphere which I embedded with my rocks from Australian National Geographic shop I bought years ago. I made another coaster too. Here are the pics.
I just love these hearts, guess what, I just made another one, I made one before, so I thought I would make another to match and stick together.
Cool coasters, I just made another one, just before and the left over resin I made the other heart.

Great sphere, love the embedded rocks, not many bubbles this time, happy with that, wish the rocks where more in the middle, have to wait for the first half of the resin to gel up more so it supports the rocks and not sink. Still learning, more practice will be fantastic.Fabulous, got to get my hands on more colors. I was told I can use eye shadow powder, but guess what I am not a makeup lady, but I might go and look out for the cheaper ones, see how they go, I am a sucker for colors.

Well that is all for now....I am working on the table runner, nearly there. We are also going to Ararat again this Friday, my hubby will be joining the Grampians Soaring Club, remember the Glider experience, might go gliding on the day, looking forward to the drive, we might stop by the Wind Farms. Cool, will keep you posted.

Enjoy your Day :)

G'day Got Photos

Hello, how is everyone? A beautiful and sunny day here in Aussie Land....and yet I am half frozen inside the house, my feet that is, no socks and thongs.

Well anyway, as promised on the previous post, I was going to show you photos of the current projects that I have started, so here they are. If you do not mind there are few photos, so grab a cuppa and enjoy.

This is the crochet table runner and coasters

With the coasters, I used the pattern that I started of with when I crochet my beanie/hats, that way I know I will get a circle.
I am enjoying this runner, it is nearly done.

This is the resin project

Below the resin, two part, 950g of clear resin

Below is the Bright Gold powder pigment color that is mixed into the resinBelow are the two molds, sphere and coaster

Below are the sucker tubes, fantastic for perfect control of pouring/squirting the resin/color into the molds, flexible and easy to useBelow is the Jewelry mold, with 11 popular jewelry shapes, fabulous, love them all
Below are the shapes that I have filled, using both colors, purple and gold, separately and mixed together and layered

Below, two pictures, one above and the other side, is the sphere, 2 1/2 inches. I layered this one with both colors, purple and gold. I started with the purple then gold. I love the effect.

Below, two pics, are the hearts, I love these, great effects. I am planning on sticking two together to get a 3D heart.

Below are the coasters. The first one, on the left, cracked and chipped on me, the mix was not that good, but the second was great, perfect size for cups, I will enjoy making few of these, with different colors and effects, maybe embedded small objects, like flowers or leaves or computer bitsBelow are all the other shapes from the jewelry mold. I have selected only few for the first round, the rest I leave for another day. They are purple not blue as in pic.

I just love making these resin shapes, they are fun and easy to create. I will have to get more colors, they are a bit expensive from Barnes.

They will completely cure in 7 days, ready for use. In the meantime, I will sand down any rough areas and polish them. I still need to get a hand drill so I can make small holes, so I can put jump rings through and hook them up to key rings or earrings or necklaces.

I will make more coasters and spheres. I have ideas for the sphere, I will be able to embed few items inside. I bought many years ago, some genuine stones from Australian National Geographic Shop. I will put them inside and preserve them forever.

Ok I think I have covered all.

Just wondering, if anyone knows what I can use to polish the finished resin shape?

I would like to thank everyone for their comments, I read them all. I check them everyday, love to hear what you think. Look forward to reading them.

Have a Fantastic day and week ahead.

it is 21st of April 2009, Tuesday

Just saying Boo

I' m still here, thought I would just say Hello, how are ya?

I am working on a new crocheting project, a table runner with matching coaster and possibly placemates.

I am using a purple base color with multicolored strips in between. The coasters will be the colors of the multicolored strips.

I am really enjoying crocheting this, love the colors and the way the runner looks, simple and colorful. I am using a 5.00mm hook and 8ply acrylic yarn using the single crochet stitch. I will take pics tomorrow and show you what I have done so far.

On Friday I bought more resin, bigger quantity this time, so I can create more. I also picked up three molds, jewelry 11 shapes, sphere and coaster. Also I bought bright gold powder color pigment and some cups and sucker tubes (like a syringe, but thinner and more flexible, not sure the correct name).

I already have made some resin shapes, using the molds that I bought and also mixing the two colors I have, purple and gold. They all look fantastic. Will take pics tomorrow and show you.

Just wondering, if anyone knows what I can use to polish the finished resin shape?

I also have picked up a library book by Jane Austin "Sense and Sensibility".

That is all for know, I will leave you with this pic....

Have a Fantastic Day and week ahead.

4000ft ABove YOu

G'day, how are you all? Did everyone have a great Easter?

I am great and had a wonderful and amazing Easter with my hubby.

We did go Gliding on Friday and the experience was awesome and magnificent.

I took photos on ground and also when I was 4000 feet in the air, Enjoy.

Photos of on the way to the airfield below. That's the Grampians, the mountains in the background.
We stopped in Ararat to grab some tucker, very light food, did not want to go up empty stomach.
Photos Ararat, center of town, below....

This is the McDonald's we stopped at, I loved the big Palm Tree, had to take the shot..We went to the Ararat Grampians Soaring Club but they were having a special time during Easter and flying travelers over the Grampians. This is a private airfield for special events, not at the Grampians Soaring Club where they fly all the time.

Here is the private airfield pic below... with the Grampians Mountains.

My hubby and myself went Gliding, we flew at the same time, one in each Glider, with a pilot in each. There were three Gliders up at the same time. That was spectacular. My hubby went up first, with a Tug airplane, yellow, pulling the Glider up. As he went up, I was being told the specifics of the controls and got strapped in and ready to take off once the Tug came back.

Here is the pic of the two gliders we went in, I was in the first one, the more advanced glider which was larger with wing span of 40 feet.

Here is my Glider....
When the Tug landed, myself and the pilot were ready and the Glider was hooked up and put into position and we were ready to take off.

Here is the pic, below, of the Tug airplane that takes the Gliders up...That is me in that Glider.

Here are the controls in front of me, exactly the same as the pilots...
Fabulous, I have so many words to describe the feeling and excitement that I went through, I am almost speechless.

We were 4000 feet up and circling around the Grampians, catching thermals and little bit of turbulence. All three Gliders were in the thermal, going around, chasing each other. What an experience, so majestic, smooth, quiet and beautiful scenery.

You see all the sky, mountains, paddocks, roads, paths and everything else you can see in the distance, there were two lakes too.

Here are the pics of me Gliding 4000 feet above once the Tug plane let us go....

There was a small window to my left...And here is the approach to landing...
Here is me grounded, just before I got out of the majestic Glider..
So there you go that was the best ever adventure I have ever had in my whole life, gliding 4000 feet above everyone and everything :)

We were up there for about 20 minutes. A beautiful day it was too, sunny, some clouds here and there, just right. Just before we arrived the pilots said that it was very cloudy and not clear.

Here are some more pics on the way home...
There were few sheep farms around and wind farms.
Wind farms were too far away to take a good shot, save that for another trip.

Well I hope you enjoyed my adventure as much as I did. This was an awesome and cool experience for me and I am looking forward to more Gliding Travels. My hubby is going to join membership at the Grampians Soaring Club, many gliding adventures to look forward to.

If you would like to see some gliding in movies, I really enjoyed this movie "The Thomas Crown Affair".

Well I will leave you to your day, enjoy and be happy for the rest of the week and weekend.

Thank you for dropping by....MonikaROse :)
