This photo was taken 5100feet above you in the afternoon (3.29pm) on 25th July 2009, Saturday, in Pouchacz glider, over the town of Ararat, Victoria, Australia.

This was my sixth gliding adventure, click on this sentence to read about that day.

I also uploaded couple of extracted clips of the video taping of that flight.
Click here for 1st Vid and here for the 2nd Vid.

I love the softness and wispiness of the cloud, beautiful and majestic.

Wow, check this out

G'day, just doodling around the net today, picking up tips on knitting. Last night we to Coles and I found myself 6 pairs of plastic needles, different sizes and colors all for a dollar. This is ok for now, I just want to practice and the yarn slides better on them too. I was looking at the ribbing stitch and I like the look of the stitch combo so I decided to give it a shot on the 5mm size new needles. Well actually I tried on my long sample bamboo 4mm, but it was all over the place, I did not at the time, that was yesterday, now how to start the ribbing. So today I made the effort to find out. Looking good, I really like the way the ribbing looks, great for scarf or blanket.

Anyways, as I was trotting along the net I found this incredible You Tube video. This is amazing how such a large feet can be achieved, any how check it out. It is about knitting.

Another Gliding Vid and some Knitting

G'day, beautiful sunny morning here. How is your morning?

Well I am still practicing my knitting. I have found this video on You Tube to show how to cast on and do the knit and purl stitch, just to remind me. I am using the continental method. Easy to do this way, because I am a crocheter I already hold my yarn in my left hand and it is easy transition. The vid on You Tube, they also have a website, Knitting Help. I have checked it out and it is easy to follow and great verbal instructions too. So if you are beginner or just want to revise your stitches check out their website, Knitting Help.

I am practicing the knit, purl, garter and stockinette stitches. Lot of fun. I already have my eyes set on the garter stitch to make my first scarf. Still have to decide yarn, color and size.

Anyways I would like to share with another gliding video. It is from the same day and video clip as the first one I uploaded. This one is gliding through and around the clouds, you can also see the town of Ararat and fields around. We are 2200 feet up. This video was taped audioless, but I have added an instrumental track to it as it is 3 min and 25 sec. The music track is longer than the video, so if you wish you may keep listening on. This is a soundtrack from the Twilight movie. I am a big fan and I do intend to read the series of books, soon. In fact I will see if the local library has them. From what I remember when I checked last there were like tons of reserved copies.

I hope you enjoy this vid and please vote or mention in comments how you liked it. Thank you, much appriciate your thoughts.

Hoped you enjoy this ride with me, more to come.

Have a fabulous day, cya

Revisiting Knitting

G'day readers, how are you today? Did you check out my previous post on my Gliding Video, if not do so because it is just majestic to be free..

I for some reason decided to revisit my knitting. Ages ago I tried knitting but to no avail could not handle the two needle thing, but I did practice for a bit and the stitches all wonky, so I gave up and continued with Crochet.

Today I picked up couple of needles, size 4.oomm bamboo and picked a good yarn to practice with and casted on. It is ok, I picked up quickly how to cast on and stitch the knit stitch. To tell you the truth, I am enjoying this new adventure. I am practicing, have made a few rows with the knit stitch, it is a bit wonky, but not too tight or too loose. But I find the bamboo needles have too much resistance and I cannot get a smooth run going.

I only have 4.00mm and 6.5mm in bamboo, that means I will make a trip soon to a craft store and purchase some plastic or steel needles. I like working with 4mm and 5mm and occastionaly larger hooks in crochet, so I will get the same sizes in knitting needles. I cannot wait.

Feels good to start a new craft. Happy for now.

That is all for today, it is time for lunch and I will catch ya soon, make sure you check out the Gliding Video, I will upload more soon.

Gliding Video

G'day, how are you on this lovely Monday morning?

I am great ! Nice, warm and sunny. Today I thought I would share with you a small part of my gliding adventure. To start of with I will show you a short video clip with the tug towing the Pouchaz glider up to 2700 feet. This is the point close to disengaging from the tug and close to the clouds. This is my favorite part of gliding I love. I hope you will enjoy.

This was taken on the 4th gliding day, on 27th June 2009, Saturday @ 3.29pm on the third and last flight for me. The whole flight took 28 minutes and this is an extract from that footage. This video will go for 1 minute and 7 seconds and it was about 5 min 20 sec into the flight. This video has no sound, as I disabled audio during the taping.

Please let me know how the video turned out, this is the first time I have uploaded a video clip and I would like to show you more of my gliding adventures. In future videos I would like to include background music with the clip.

If you would like to read about my 4th day of gliding please click here.

I hope to hear from you.

I have included a What ya Think question at the bottom of each post, you may select from three options, beautiful, majestic and cool. You may select any number of them. It is kind of like a Rate it for the post.

I also included a search bar at the top right of the blog so you can search within my blog. Just type in what you would like to see again, like gliding or crochet or resin and it will show a window on left with the results of the posts that have those words and select the one you want to read.

One more, I have included a type of signature at the end of the post. If you would like to make one for yourself just click on the signature and it will take you to the website where it will be created, it is for free and easy to setup.

That is all for now, chat later. Have a fabulous day. :)

Gliding Day #6 - on the road - Gliding Time

G'day

Grab a cuppa and enjoy this long post with photos.

We are off gliding, it is a glorious day, sunny with clouds. We are traveling on the road, it is 11.09am and we are close to Ballart.

As always we are heading to Grampians Soaring Club, in Ararat Aerodrome, if you are nearby come by and join in the fun and go soaring with the most beautiful Gliders.

We were planning on a very early start to catch the sunrise and fog....but missed the early alarm..anyways it is good forecast for flying and we headed off about 9am. We caught the maccas breakfeast, good strong bacon and eggs mcmuffin meals with coffees. We just passing the town of Ballarat @ 11.15am.

Here is three pics for taste, McDonald's with the Petrol Station @ Rockbank, some clouds after breakky and the road sign heading of into Ballarat town.

It is 11.30am and there is heaps of sheep grazing to my left, the sun is out and the clouds are scattered. To my right are the wind farms and hills.

This is so far, will update soon, just want to post this up. At the end of the post there is What ya Think question with three answers, beautiful, interesting and cool, you may tick all or just one, let me know what you think of this post.

cya soon.

Hi, its 11.50am and we just passed thru the town Beaufort, here are a couple of pics.

Cool we are nearlly there, when you can see the mountains on the right and the wind farms on the left and in front then we are close, it is 11.58am. Here is a pic of the mountains.

More sheep grazing on the left and right, cool, lots of green grass. Very sunny now.

Ararat 18km away, the club is before the town, we are close.
Ararat now 10km away, there is railway line on the right @ 12.11pm.
Here is a pic of the railway line.

We have arrived and it is 12.15pm, few people around, hope we will get few flights in today, looks good, there is wind but not too strong, should be ok..here are pics of the Petrol Station next door and the entrance to the Club.

I will leave you for now and go and do some soaring, catcha later.. :)

MonikaROse @ 12.20pm

Hi, it is 2pm and we are flying today :) :):):):):):):):):):):):)
One member has gone up twice and another is ready to take off at this moment, the tug has just landed. I might be up next, not unless hubby is ready to go up. A bit windy but alright for flying today, not much lift so not sure how long we can stay up there. The sun is out but it is on the chilly side. You guys should see the take off's today, crosswind. God the wind is shaking the car, that is where I am now, nice and warm. The Pouchaz is gliding today, great glider. Here are some pics.

Goota go, I am up next, Pouchaz coming in :)

Sorry false alarm, gentleman is going up on his own, but my turn is up. It is amazing I have butterflies in my stomach, I have been up before, but I think it is this cross wind that is scary, you should see when they take off, blown to side and hubby is a chook he will not go up next, wants to go last, I think he is chook about the cross wind. using both runways today, one side to take off and the other to land with the tug. More butterflies.... it is 2.16pm, the tug just landed. Why am I just shitting myself at the moment.....!!!!!!! I just had half a bannana, hope that stays in.....not sure not sure !!!!!

Gota go he is coming in....oh dear...see ya later dudes...@ 2.20p

Hi, I am back and it is 5.30pm and we are headed home, we left at 5pm.

Yes and I flew, actually I was soaring at 5500feet , now that is high. I wanted to go above the clouds and thats where we were. Wow, fabulous, magestic and breathtaking. I have pictures.. We are in Beaufort @ 5.33pm at it is still light out.

There was cross wind on the take offs and landings but once you get up there it was very smooth, that I even took the controls today. Was fantastic, just for short time and tried my hand in turning the glider using the ruder. Was excellent day few flights made, everyone enjoyed themselves, especially the tug pilot, he loves the heights, big smile from one ear to the other, mine too, I went up for 32 minutes. The tug pilot said "I love my job".

Hubby did excellent handled the take offs and landings very well considering the crosswind, he made two flights, the second was just a circuit. He was very happy and so was the instructor. Brings him closer to being a glider pilot.

Here is some pics for taste, will do a collage tonight or tomorrow of the days gliding.

This is the cloud we were heading for and into.
Well it is 6pm and it is getting dark I can almost not see my keyboard, I will leave this for now. We are having pizza tonight, yummy. I will catch up with you tomorrow for Shadow Shot Sunday. Hope you enjoyed your travels with me on this beautiful and magestic day of Gliding. I am anticipating my next flight...feel much better, had bit of nerves today. All in all a fantastic day.

Cya soon

Gliding Day #5 - live from on the road

G'day folks

18th of July 2009 Saturday, Victoria, Australia.

On our way to Grampians Soaring Club in Ararat

Another gliding day for us, weather looking good, it is 10.34am and we are on our way, we have just left the town of Beaufort, which is after Ballarat. OOOh low clouds my hubby says I would be able to fly above them, over them and around them. Sounds and looks very good. The sun is out. We are about 15 minutes away from the club. I am live and typing on the road with our wireless internet connection with Optus.wow.. :) fabulous. I will have pictures for you today of the sky from very high.

This shot was taken at 10.00am, on the way after breakfeast.

Here is the Grampians Soaring Club website, if you are close by come and join in the fun.

Ararat is 23km from where we are on the road.
Hubby says looks like a really good day for flying, with the clouds and not much wind.
We are approaching another town called, unusual name, ok missed that one.
ooooh, wind farm on my left, they are so close I can almost touch them ;)
Welcome to the Grampians, big sign, 15km to Ararat @10.46am.
Lots of sheep to my left with little ones and to my right railway lines.
Ararat 10km away.
We are approaching the club, but there is a petrol station next door, so we are going to fill up fuel first, we do not see anyone at the club yet, they open 10am but members start rolling up about 11 or so. We just pulled up at the petrol station it is 10.55am. It is cold outside and a bit of wind too. The car is sooo warm I do not feel like stepping out at the moment ;)

We left home at 8.30am, got up at 7.30am. We had breakfast at McDonald's, one which is attached to Petrol Station, I think that was at Rockbank, it is new. We had two bacon and egg muffin meals with large coffees, excellent, strong breakfast, which will keep us going for most of the day. We took some fruits and nuts to munch on during the day. We finished our breakky and headed off at 9.15am.

Ok hubby filled the car up and we are headed back to the club, right next door @ 11.06am.
We have arrived and parked the car @ 11.08am.

Alright better sign off and post, I will upload pics at the end of the day.
Weather looks ok so far.

These shots were taken when we were at the club during day.
Caught a rainbow, beaut colors @ 1.38pm.

This is the wind sock. Very strong cross wind and changing direction all the time @ 1.38pm.

This shot was taken at 1.53pm, just the clouds were so beautiful.

I will cya later.

I am back, Still live and on the road.
okydoky people, it is 5.10pm now and we are heading home.

Well I am sorry to say that it was too windy today, wind was all over the place, not very good for take of and landing. It was changing direction within a short time and cross wind.
But we are both glad that we drove up today. It is raining now, spitting little droplets @ 5.17pm, past Beaufort and heading towards Ballarat. I took pictures on the way up and when we were hanging around and learning more about gliding. Hubby got a lesson in DI (daily inspection before the glider goes out) and also about oxygen and the tanks that are used, this is for when you are very high. Was very chilly today, occasionally the sun was out to warm us up. They had the fireplace going inside the main club house, nice and cozy. The photos were great of the sky, clouds and wind sock. We loved being out there, fabulous day with a chill to boot

We left at 3.30pm, long drive home, about two hours and was getting too cold and the rain was starting too. We drop by the petrol station next door, they have a restaurant. We had couple of burgers with the lot, flat white coffees and one scroll. Not bad, but too pricey for me, twenty six bucks :(.

We are on the road and it is 5.26pm and there is still light out. The clouds are turning orangish with the sunset, beautiful. I will post up some pictures when we get home. I used my Nokia N95 to take shots today and I did not bring cable or bluetooth adapter to bring them across to the portable comp. Overall the day was good we both enjoyed ourselves and learnt a great deal more about gliders.

This shot I took as it was getting dark with the sunset casting beautiful colors onto the sky, behind us and the only way to take the shot is on the side mirror, this was taken @ 5.33pm.

This shot was taken as it was getting dark at 5.35pm on the road home.

Just as I was to load up the blogger account to continue this post my portable comp went into hibernation, low batter, bummer ;) But wait, my hubby bought this Portable Power Station, in one word, does everything, including charge my portable comp, huh I win. Thus I am hooked up to a power source, using the internet and on the road in the middle of nowhere ;), how's that. I feel special and excited at the same time, this is fabulous. It is 5.39pm and it is starting to get dark but there is some light out still. We have just past the town of Ballarat. Next town Bacchus Marsh.

We just passed Pykes Creek at 5.50pm and it is very dark now, I cannot see the portable comp properly. Still hooked up and surfing.

We are just passing Bacchus Marsh @6.11pm. It is very very dark.

Well, just disconnected from the power source, battery charged half full. Smelt something funny, but it turned out to be outside cars, diesel, plus the battery charger was very warm. It is ok, should be enough to get us home. It is so dark outside it is 6.21 pm and still connected to the net at full speed, 7.2mb. We are so happy with this Optus Wireless, 1GB over 24 months, 27 bucks a month and we have fast speed and free usb wireless modem. This is excellent because we have cable net with Optus and been with them for a long time and had phone too ages ago, so we got a good deal, free modem, just fabulous and has delivered all the time.

We just passed Rockbank and the petrol station with McDonald's, the one we had breakfeast, it is 6.28pm. We have arrived in Burnside @ 6.31pm and we are close to home.

@6.38pm hubby is topping up fuel and we are nearly home. We are at the shopping center where there is Safeway Petrol Station. We should be home in 5min. The battery is getting low again, so I better post and sign off for now @ 6.41pm. I will post up pics tonight or tomorrow.

I will cya later.
