Couple of Filet Done

Almost !!

Hello everyone and Happy Thanksgiving, hope you had/having a great time!

Sorry about the long waiting on posting.

Just completed my second Filet Crochet project. I have in completion two, but I not yet blocked them, so they both look a bit wobbly, but beautiful. I have pictures.

This is my first one, it is called, Snowberry Circle, from a crochet book. I was not sure how to block the piece, so i decided to iron the piece, but become flatish and not much squared off, but much better than wobbly.  I have placed the berry's under a glass holding vase with pot purrie on my living room  wooden table.  Looks good. Took me two days.

When the berry's were completed, I started on the Scottish Dogs, from a corchet book, same book. I decided to make this one in white and the same hook size as the berries, 1.75mm. This one took me longer to complete, I was doing few rows a day. Finally I bogged myself down and said I will finish this one today, because I really like the look and wanted to see how looks when completed.  Well here is the picture.

Well, I told you, a bit wobbly.  But what do you think so far?

During the completion of the scottish dogs, I searched the net on how to block the pieces and I have found a simple way of blocking. I will have to try with the berry's.  Hand wash the piece, roll wrap dry in towel, pin (using rust proof pins) to soft area, maybe ironing board, from the centre and to all four corners, stretching and shaping whilst pinning in place and let completly dry.

This should be alright, will try soon.

The week has been good. I love crocheting beanies and hats. I have not done one in a while so I thought yesterday I would do one, a pattern that I have not tried yet, striped, two colored. Here is the picture. I made this in one day.

I like it, I found a way to creat hats/beanies, that fit me too a tea, love it. With this one I used acrylic yarn, white and black, seperate yarns and I used a 6.5mm hook. I have lot of fun making this one. Might have to do a matching scarf.  But I do not like acrlyics around my neck, too scratchy. Will have to find soft yarn.

Here are few pictures, Enjoy.

My pets, Girly, Puss and Mitz.

Pics from the day we went to Melbourne City. Eureka Tower (tallest in Melbourne). Couple taking a ride, near ... blank .. (will remember soon).. ahh.. Docklands and a pic from top of the tower of Flinders Street, train station.

This trip was around last year, December I think. T'was a fantastic day.

I hope you all having/had a great ThanksGiving day.

Thats all, have a great day :)

Filet Crochet

Good morning all, how are you? I am well and good. Tis 9.13am here in Aussie Land, a bit chilly and grey clouds above, ready to rain.  We are headed off to a rainy rest of the week. At last some rain to fill our tanks.

Anyways, its been a week since last post.

I have discoverd a new crochet technique called, Filet Crochet.  This is a system where one uses a tiny hook to crochet open and closed blocks to create beautiful pictures with thread. I think this is a better discription, click here.

This technique is so beautiful I think I am hooked :)

This started when I decided to buy a small steel hook, size 1.75mm. I have always eyed the steel hooks, they llook so cool and shiny, but I thought before, what can possiblly be done with this tiny hook, which creates tiny stitches. So I bought it and it has been sitting around for maybe two weeks.

So few days ago I thought I feel like trying what tis hook can do. So I took some yarn and the hook and decided to create sunglasses cases, wow what a result, instead of having these big stitches and holes, like crochet does, this tiny hook created tighter and smaller stitches, no holes. This is great. Then I remembered that I have a book with filet crochet.

So the next day I set about finding some patteren that is simple and smaller to make.

I bought some thread cotton, 4ply in purple and grabed my tiny, 1.75mm hook and started hooking. Not that hard to follow, for first time.

The next I completed the pattern and wow, I like this. It is so much fun using the small hook, I decided to create another one from the book, one with scottish dogs, looks really good. The first one was of berries. Looks good. But one thing is that it has to be blocked. Which I have not done before, using starch and water, to make it look nicer, at the moment it is all loose, once blocked it will be more symetrical and beautiful looking.

I decided to search around the net for patterns and I found this snowflake, so I decided to try one with yarn instead of thread, so I grabed some 8ply white acrylic yarn and a 5.0mm hook and started chaining 136. Wow you should see how big it is, it is going to be a square. 44rows by 44rows. I like it.

Anywasy, I will show pics later, this is so cool, I can finially do doilys and beautiful table runners .

I have had a good week, went country walking. Will have pics later.

Well I think you all should try Filet Crochet, easy and fun to make with stunning crations.

Have a great day :) monikarose

g'day

Hello and good morning

Thought i would just say hi

hi

How is everyone?

I will throw some pics at ya, here they are.

Hobo Bag

This is the hobo bag iImade a while back, the bag is so fabulous, I love it. I wanted it in one color, the color on the bottom of the bag, black and purple together, I ran out, could not be bothered to get more yarn, so I used what I had, that is why it is so multicolored, I like it anyways, but there is the change of color that is seen on the front, should have been on the back, too late once I did the flap. I have uesd it as a tote bag for carrying my yarn projects on the go, excellent, lot of room in there. Recently I used the bag as a hand bag over the shoulder, I thought I did the handles too short when I first used to the bag, but when put over my head and shoulder it stretched, I pulled it down and it stretched now it is longer and great to use as a hand bag, lots a room, love bag. I think I might do another one, but more for the purpose of a hand bag, maybe a zipper and a lining and one color through out. I will see, have to think about it. I want to put this on the shop too, but the hobo bag takes a while to do.

Anyways, if you want to make one for yourself, i have the link to Teresa video tutorial on how to create a hobo bag. Check it out here, Crochet Messenger Hobo Slouch Bag

Next pic, Puss

I love his look here, I would not let him on my lap (did not feel like cleaning his hairs off later ;)).He was so hurt thats why the look.

Much happier, inside the house and on the couch sleeping half on my legs.

Next pic

Small blanket

While back I made this blanket out of acrylic yarn, I love it but it is small and itchy for a blanket, but anyway, I made it and I really like it the way the pattern turned out and the colors, so I was thinking, maybe if I make more of them and join them up, with differeent colors, sounds great. Made another one with orange and yellows and in the process of a purple contrasting colors, that is sitting there on the couch to be finised for a long time now, will have to finish soon, like the colors and pattern. I will catagorise this blanket as a UFP (unfinished project or maybe call  that unfinishefed crochet project, UFCP).

Anyways that is all for now, all these UFCP are putting me to sleep, I have so many it is not funny.

Have a great day :)

G'day

Hi all :)

Just posted couple of new scarfs for my etsy store.
In great colors of red and green, right for the xmas season.

I love making these scarfs, I have a light blue one and dark green with contrasting light green strips. The blue one is long. I just love wearing it, the way it flows when you walk and the many ways you can wear it. The scarfs are made in the double crochet stitch (dc), which makes them look lacy in a way. They are very versatile.

I love them so much that I thought I might make them for the store but in christmas colors of red and green. They are fantastic. You can wear them around christmas time, especially on xmas morning, wrap yourself in it and be warm to enjoy your xmas time. Or just wear them with your favorite cloths.

They should appear on the right in my store column of items.

Have a great day... I will be adding more xmas items soon, a set for the table. Stay tuned and buy something special from my store for xmas, I have lowered some of my prices.

Cya for Now .... MOnikaROse
p.s. i was told the snake was a baby snake and nothing to worry about.!

Alert snake in Backyard

Hello

I was just outside putting out washing, since it is a beautiful and hot sunny day, finished putting the clothes on the line and both pets were around me. I was petting Mitz my doggy and all of a sudden I see movement close to her.

There was this snake close by and it made its way towards me than turned and went under the clothes basket and in to the grass and towards the back of the yard.

This snake was about 30cm long and 1cm in width. Yellow light brown in length and black head. Only small.

In 13 years living in this house no sign of any snakes.

The grass is a bit longer around the house. It is hot today.

Scary stuff.

Not sure what type of snake it was.

Anyways cya for now.

Yarn, Stitches and UFP

Hello everyone, how are you? Me i am doing well, nice and sunny outside today, sunday the 9th november in the year 2008.

Had a great weekend. Went out to do the weekly shopping, spent time with hubby and my pets. Was a great couple of days.

Talking about yarn, stitches and UfP (unfinished projects). Too much yarn, which stitch to use with each different type of yarn and too many UFP's. My craft room/comp room is overfilling with it all. No room, nope none. One box full of yarn, almost cannot close it and the rest is still in their shopping bags. I mean this is overflowing that I cannot move around in that room.

Stitches, there are so many which one do you choose to go with your new project. Ha Ha, new project, well you might be thinking what about the UFp's. Well they are all over the place too, some in craft room, some in dinning room, some in living room.

I think my brain is going overload too. ooch. ;)

But anyways, I am doing a christmas theme or shall I say xmas colors for my etsy store, I cannot wait to list them. They are taking a while to complete, but nearlly there. Must be nearlly there, since xmas is around the corner.

Well enough said, I will leave you with some some pics. Have a great day and night where ever you are.

Thank you all for your thoughts and comments on my poem. I just reading your comments, keep them comming, you all keep me smilling. :)

A Poem

Hello, how are you?

Last year I went through a spiritual awakening. My mind was clear and life began for me. Poems flowed. I thought I might share one with you. This is  a poem written by me, copyright laws apply (my full name, i do not wish to list here).

*******************************

The Truth Escapes Me

The world is changing
Do we know why
How, Where and When
If so who is doing What about it

The trees are dying
The flowers are withering
The grass is drying
The sky is diminishing
The water is receding
The food is vanishing
People are passing
The atmosphere is expanding
The weather is undulating

Oh my what are we to do

Can we persuade someone
Can we yell at anyone
Can we stop it all

That is the question
We must answer
And do something about

It has to do with our survival
And with the innocent children
That will or will not be born
And all the life all around us

So please consider these and do something about it

**************************************************

What do you think?

I entered this poem into a contest and they want to print it into a poem book. Not bad. There was another poem I entered and that too went into a poem book.

I have more, which I might share. I was going to put all of my spiritual awakening poems into a book, like PDF. Was considering sharing, but was not sure. I still might do that one day, now that I have etsy. Hmmm, there is a thought.

Weekend was good, went to Spotlight in Essendon Airport. I tell you it is the biggest Spotlight store I have seen. It is huge and huge money did I spend. Too much, you the YaRN buiness and some beading things. Love it all. So much yarn you would not believe. :) I am addicted.... ;)

I will let you know now, that weekend for me is Friday and Saturday. That is when hubby is home (RDO). We had good time, going shopping. I think we found a new fridge for ourselves. Our old one uses to0 much watts (power) consumption. The new one 130 to 230watts. The old one 1000w. ooch. It is hard to find fridge. But I think this is the one. LG 305litres, upsidedown one. Hubby is really looking into it. I think this one is ours. Cool I am happy to receive. :)

I have listed four new creations on my etsy store.  I have created beaded phone charms, which can be used as zipper pulls too and can be hooked onto split ring stitch markers too. They are so colorful. I have few of them for myself and use them as I have just discribed. They are so much fun. I love the copper wire ones, they are strong and great for zipper pulls. I have put together a set of 4 with phone cord to go with.  Here is a pic and the link.  Click here.

I hope you all like them because I think they are great and fun, I have the one with blue pendant on my mobile phone and also similar to the first one with the spirl too. Thus I have two dangles dangling of my phone. Love putting them together.

If you like them mozy on over to my store and check them out, I have another 3 bundles, all different. Please spread the word too.

Well its been fun, blogging and I will catch ya later

Cya MonikaROse :) Have a great day and smile.
